Consultant Cardiologist

Professional background

Dr Marshall is a highly regarded and compassionate consultant cardiologist, with more than 20 years’ clinical experience in general cardiology and extensive subspecialty expertise in multi-modality cardiac imaging and heart valve disease. He holds accreditation in both cardiology and general internal medicine. Dr Marshall leads the echocardiography service at Kingston and Richmond NHS Foundation Trust.

While Dr Marshall manages a broad range of general cardiology conditions, he has particular expertise in multimodality cardiac imaging for patients with ischaemic heart disease, valvular heart disease, cardiomyopathy, and heart failure.

Multimodality combines echocardiography, cardiac computed tomography (CCT), and cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) to diagnose and manage complex heart diseases. This integrated approach provides a complete view of heart structure, function, and tissue health compared to using a single test

Dr Marshall completed his medical training at Downing College, Cambridge and Cambridge University School of Clinical Medicine, including an intercalated degree in Neuroscience. During his cardiology specialist training he undertook a period of formal clinical research, culminating in the award of a Medical Doctorate (MD) from Cambridge University. His subspecialty training in advanced multimodality cardiac imaging was based at the Royal Brompton & Harefield NHS Trust.

Appointed as Consultant Cardiologist at East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust in 2015, Dr Marshall led the echocardiography, heart failure, and adult congenital heart disease services. In 2022, he joined Kingston Hospital to lead and further develop the echocardiography service, including the establishment of an in-house complex echocardiography program.
