Professional background

Dr Muralidhara (aka Dr Murali) runs endocrine clinics providing care for a wide range of endocrine conditions including thyroid, parathyroid, pituitary, adrenal, gonadal (ovarian and testicular) disorders. He works with multidisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive care for people with thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal, and pituitary conditions. 

In addition to his experience in managing endocrine conditions, Dr Murali has clinical expertise in managing type 1 and type 2 diabetes. He has provided clinical leadership to young adult diabetes services and has worked on delivering high-quality innovative care. He has also led an integrated type 2 diabetes service whose innovative approach to outreaching people’s needs received local and national awards.

Dr Murali qualified in 1998 at the University of Bangalore before obtaining an MD in general medicine from RGUHS University, Bangalore. His diabetes and endocrinology training were at renowned hospitals, including Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals. 

He has an interest in education and leadership. He is a Joint lead of the leadership development programme run by the Association of British Diabetologists, UK. He is a Foundation doctor Training Programme Director at his NHS trust. He is an executive member of the British Thyroid Association. He was a governing body member of a Clinical Commissioning Group (2017-2020).

His research interests are in thyroid disorders and diabetes in young adults.
