Consultant Physician in Respiratory and General Internal Medicine

Background

Dr Siva Mahendran offers private respiratory consultations for patients from Kingston-upon-Thames, Richmond, Surbiton, Wimbledon, Twickenham and surrounding South West London areas and Surrey. He has been based at Kingston & Richmond NHS Foundation Trust since 2017, where he holds senior clinical and leadership roles.

Dr Mahendran has developed specialist pathways in asthma, pulmonary fibrosis and complex respiratory disease through close links with leading tertiary centres in London, helping local patients access advanced respiratory care.

Dr Mahendran qualified in Medicine from University College London (UCL) in 2004 and has been on the GMC Specialist Register for Respiratory Medicine since 2017. He completed postgraduate training at various centres of excellence in Respiratory care including the Royal Brompton, Hammersmith, Guy’s & St Thomas’ and King’s College Hospital.

He has a strong academic background, having completed a Clinical Research Fellowship at Guy’s Hospital and a PhD in Respiratory Immunology at King’s College London. He was also Lead Clinical Investigator for the Recovery COVID-19 trial at Kingston Hospital.

Dr Mahendran has advanced expertise in bronchoscopy and ultrasound-guided pleural procedures and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, where he also serves as a postgraduate examiner. As Trust Chair for Medicines Management, he leads medication safety and quality improvement initiatives and has received multiple awards for patient safety, service improvement and charitable funding for his department. 

His private practice focuses on personalised, evidence-based respiratory care.
